My Gear-30lb Limit

Ride For Kids Sake Packing List

The tricky part of packing is that we have to carry EVERYTHING in 2 small gym bags.
Total weight of both bags combined can not exceed 30 pounds!

Below is the list of my worldly goods during the ride.


Bike Equipment

 __ Bike - Really good idea to not forget this piece of equipment.

__ Hydration pack: Medium size with storage pockets (Required for desert areas)

__ 2 Water bottles (In addition to hydration pack for the desert)

__ Small to medium size seat bag (For items such as 2 tubes, tire levers, small camera, tools)

__ Mirror: Helmet or handlebar/bar end mounted (Required)

__ Frame pump OR Inflator with built-in mini pump and CO2 cartridges

__ Bicycle computer and calibration instructions 

__ Cue sheet clip (Used to attach cue sheets to handlebars)

__ Reflective ankle bands (Optional - For rainy days)

__ Blinking tail-light
 
Bicycle Clothes


__ Helmet (Required)

__ 3 Pairs of cycling shorts

__ 3 Short sleeve jerseys (One being white or light colored for the desert)

__ 3 Pairs of cycling socks

__ Cycling shoes

__ Cycling gloves ( 1 long / 1 short)

__ Brightly colored rain jacket 

__ Sunglasses

__ HeadSweat (Keeps head cool under helmet when wet)

__ Arm warmers

__ Leg warmers

__ White “Arm Coolers” (For the desert )

__ White “Leg Coolers” (For the desert )
 
Personal Clothes & Odds and Ends



__ Travel size Chamois Butt’r or A&D Ointment (Apply before each ride; saddle sore prevention)

__ Earplugs (In case my room mate snores)

__ 1 Pair of shorts

__ 1 Pair of zip-off pants (bottom portion of legs zip off into shorts)

__ 3 Short sleeve shirts (Use rain jacket on cool evenings)

__3 Underwear

__ 3 Socks

__ Bathing suit

__ 1 pr light shoes

__ Travel size toiletries (Huge weight savings with travel size items!! Re-supply during tour)

__ Very lightweight toiletry bag or Ziploc (Avoid bulky bags with heavy fabric, hooks and zippers)

__ Small, lightweight wallet (Carried in a baggie. Small business card holders work well!)

__ Flip Video Camera

__ Netbook Laptop...Yes, I will be working during the ride. Promotional Products anyone?

__ Twine and four clothes pins (For drying clothes)

__ 6 Baggies (Quart or sandwich size for icing achy joints and general use)

__ # 1 needed tour item.....Credit Card.
 
Tool Kit for Bike



__ Tweezers (For removing debris from tires such as thorns and wires)

__ Small multi-tool OR lightweight metric hex wrenches and tiny pocketknife

__ Patch kit 

__ 3 Tire levers

__ 2 New tubes (Carried on bike)

__ Tire boot (for repairing damaged tires)

__ 6 Spokes each size (Taped to bicycle frame or wrapped and dropped inside frame’s seat tube)
 
First Aid Kit For Your Bicycle



__ 6 Band aids

__ Travel size Chamois Butt’r or A&D Ointment (Re-apply during each ride to prevent saddle sores)

__ Johnson & Johnson “Advanced Healing Adhesive Pads” (Helps heal saddle sores, road rash)

__ (2) 4x4 gauze pads (For applying pressure to bleeding wounds)

__ Ibuprofen and/or Tylenol (

__ Travel size sunscreen (30 SPF or higher)

__ Lip ointment (30 SPF or higher)
