This morning I found that Vinny & Tracy, being the thoughtful folks that they are had done a seat conversion to my bike.
Yesterday I had some issues that required frequent stops early during the ride, it is good to know that after just a couple weeks we are working together as a fine tuned machine.
Vinny & Tracy (above), you would think that riding to Santa Fe in late may we would be worried about the sun and the heat, today it was a battle against the wind & cold.
Albuquerque to Santa Fe via Rt 66 starts as a slow climb and then continues for 40 miles. The below picture is what Vinny has titled "Truck on a Cheese".
"Truck on a cheese" is always a welcome sight, it means that the prior climbing is about to be paid off with a nice descent and today this descent was really needed.
This is a shot looking down toward Santa Fe. There isn't much between Albuquerque and Santa Fe except the Village of Madrid (Mad-rid), this is a cool little place that looks as though the 70's have never ended.Madrid is a blend of art galleries and shops with a mix of a couple coffee shops, bars and restaurants.

This stop in Madrid was great, everyone was cold and the hot coffee was the perfect elixir to get us the final 20 miles to Santa Fe.
Tomorrow is a "day off" and the rest will be welcomed. Sunday we begin a string of 9 straight days without a rest day which will put us in Abilene KS and only 1 day away from a the half way point.
Everyday makes me think that I just might make it all the way to Boston.
Dream BIG, Jeff
Enjoy your rest day, you've earned it.
ReplyDeleteCongtrats on making it to Santa Fe. Take a look at the map in the lobby and see how much of the road you have traveled. It is an awesome feeling. Ira XC09.
ReplyDeleteI love this blog, it makes my day
ReplyDeleteYou're doing great! Love following "vicariously!" And you will finish...(I can't believe the folks who turned around at the base of Half Dome and didn't go the extra 500'...simply unfathomable after all the other effort.) You will do it!
