Holbrook to Gallup
Interstate 40, 90 miles with a nice tailwind.
Holbrook AZ is a great town to ride away from, although this observation might make me shallow, I feel it is my duty as your correspondent of truth to point out that the majority of the residents of Holbrook look as though they have never left Holbrook and that there might be some bad chemicals in the drinking water.
The day started like yesterday ended....with a flat. This flat was Adrians and she did a great job of getting it changed quick and getting us back on the road. The morning was brisk, note Dana in background in his "jeeeezzze it's cccccccold" pose.
If you were to be shopping for Indian blankets, Indian Jewelry, Rocks or Petrified Wood....today would be the day for you. According to the 372 billboards between Holbrook and Gallup this must be mecca for everything you could ever hope for in Authentic Indian Gift Items. Although I didn't buy any of the fine items for sale I was appreciative of the clean bathrooms.
SAG stop. SAG is Support & Gear, it give us a place to refill the Camelbaks and Bottles and toss down some calories. SAG vans can be a very welcome sight during a long day on the road.
Today was our 2nd state line crossing and our 1st time change, starting to feel like we are making some real progress. State #3 and 12 more to to go.
After we crossed over into New Mexico we were greeted with some nice views like this.
Another 90 mile day but with the tailwind this was a restful 90 mile day that I will be appreciate later in the ride.
And how does the day end?....you guessed it. Dave showing his happiness about a flat about 8 miles from the finish.
Above is for Stephanie who drove from Albuquerque to Flagstaff and laughed at these signs in the desert.
I can report that we have yet to see any ice.
Tomorrow we ride Grants NM and cross The Continental Divide and climb to 7,300 ft.
Dream BIG, Jeff
