Richmond, IN to Marysville, OH
105 Miles, cool temps and a crossing headwind.
Hello Ohio! This is our 10th state and we will ride through 5 more in the next 2 weeks. Todays ride was 105 miles of quiet country roads. Temperatures were 30 degrees cooler than yesterday (good) and we had crossing headwinds all day long (not good). Compared to some of the winds we have had in the last month today was mild but it still a long day when the wind requires you to take 8 hours in the saddle to complete the ride.
We came across several Amish buggies today, I really liked this one with the Amish bike rider following. We had one buggy pass us at an intersection and this little girl stood up in the back window and waved at our goofy group of spandex wearing riders.
We ran into this group of guys at about the 70 mile mark and they said "Hey, are you guys going across country" we confirmed that we were and then they said "Is George in your group?" we confirmed that George was about 20 minutes behind us so the guys rode back to see their buddy George. This group calls themselves "Kenny's Diner Rider Club" (or something like that) their motto is ride to eat. These guys were full of laughter and I bet they would be fun to ride and dine with.
It seems that George has friends or family in almost every town we stop.
This is Doug at the Subway in Covington OH. Doug welcomed everyone in to fill up their waters and most importantly to use the bathroom. Riding in the middle of nowhere and being able to find a proper toilet is always a treat. Thanks Doug.
Covington OH on Sunday morning before church lets out, empty.
On Sunday, folks in Ohio seem to all do the same thing, they mow their lawns. In fact, it seems that if they don't mow their own lawn they will mow their neighbors lawn. In the 105 miles that we rode today while in the middle of nowhere I would guess that I saw over 100 people riding their John Deers. We aren't talking about itsy bitsy lawns, these are lawns measured in acres.
Eastern Indiana and Western Ohio have been a real nice change to the prior weeks lack of scenery.

Cedar plank salmon, truffle mashed potatoes, fresh salad and a nice pinot noir at chez vinny. We walked to Peets coffee this morning and got Darla from our neighbors, it is good to be home. Keep up the good work.
